The struggle for survival would increase due to the increase in population and relativly less resources. Life would be longer and harder.

If there would be a cure for all diseases, the population will keep on increasing and the death rate will decrease tremendously resulting in the shortage of resources as the rate of production won't be able to catch up with the demand of the increasing population. As a result, the people will die due to the shortage of resources like food and water.

i agree, the resources we have would not been shared out evenly, only the rich would have enough food and water, the poorer and middle classes would have to fight for their food.

from my opinion a cure for all diseases in this modern world would not be beneficial for the survival of our civilization because if everyone will get cured then the basic resources required for a living like food, water will get used up very fast and also there will be a rapid increase in our world population because the death rate would decrease due to the curing of diseases and already we are living through population explosion in few countries like India.....And so I think a cure for all diseases would not be beneficial..... :)

Firstly, we need to define the meaning of ‘disease’. For some it may just be ugly looking or plump or being different. While others think it is commonly known ailments such as cough, fever, typhoid and sometimes in this list also are names such as cancer, AIDS or epilepsy.
Next thing, what is a cure. A cure can be counseling, it can be medicines and drugs, it can be one’s self immunity and consciousness fighting the foreign ‘bodies’ and many different such definitions are held by people.
The last thing we need to look up is whether to have general cure for all known ailments is possible or not, and if possible will it be good for the future generations or not. For the first part, my answer and opinion is that it is highly unlikely that in the present or somewhere in the distant future such a medicine or drug will be invented or fabricated. For the next part of the question, I think that it will have both good and evil effects, the effects better in nature are that life spans will be prolonged, and that all the ‘known’ ailments will be eradicated. While the other side of the coin is that, although life span will be prolonged, it is not a Fountain of Youth that one will not get old. Also, the population will proportionally increase and again we come to the infamous problem of land. So as Darwin said the competition will increase and life in a word will be ‘Chaos’.
So, according to me such a hypothetical cure will not be beneficial for the future generations to come.

If there were to be a cure for all diseases, then hardly anybody would die, while the population will keep on increasing. The strife to access basic necessities like shelter, water, food, and clothing will increase. Not everybody will have enough to sustain themselves, so, nature will be convulsed. This will not be good for the generations that are to come, as they would have zero-access to basic necessities and natural resources.

Yes, I strongly believe that cure for all diseases will definately be beneficial for the mankind. to support my belief, let me put forward my thoughts on this statement.
With a cure , the pain the people have to go through will be decreased. This inturn will help the society stay cheerful. If we are blessed with a population , we should make use of it rather than deplete it . When the people of the country are dying , then it will be impossible for the country to make use of it's resourses , as , they cannot be used by themselves. We need people.
Forcing people to die when we have an alternate choice is just inhuman , and if we don't use the resources for the peoples benefit , then whom are we saving them for? In the end the country will die with dying assets .

On reflection I do not think that a cure to all diseases would be beneficial. There is a strong argument based on the idea that diseases cause pain and suffering and stopping this improves the quality of human life. However, at its heart human life is frail and part of being human is recognising our own mortality and limits to our existence. We must be aware that disease can be fatal and we are not immune from its reaches. Providing a cure for all diseases would fundamentally change what it means to be human.

I agree that human life is not immortal. But, providing a cure, means alot to a person who is on his/her death bed. They get a little more time to spend with their loved ones. This deep feeling cannot be understood unless, in reality; it happens with an individual.

If there was a cure for every disease then, nobody would ever die. This will lead to increase in the population, and the economic growth of countries will decrease. Due to this fall in the economy, inflation and maybe, hyperinflation will occur. Not many will be able to keep up with the rapid pace of increasing prices, and would not be able to afford even the basic necessities such as food and clothes. So, if there was a cure for every disease, then people may not die of diseases, but they will suffer due to starvation.

First of all, curing a disease doesn't make the person immortal. It will just increase a few years of the most treasured thing in the world, i.e. life.
According to the economic theory, the healthier the people, the better it is for the country. As a result many liabilities can be changed into assets; by investing in human capital. An excellent example of such a country is Japan.

its true that life is a treasured thing in this world for all of us but it is also true that to stay alive we need the various resources of the earth which are nowadays reducing day by day because of its need in making the cure for all the diseases... and we all know that cure for all diseases will increase the already high human population leading to more of resource consumption which is all the more resulting in environmental degradation and the planet's carrying capacity.....

In my opinion,a cure for all diseases would be beneficial.Finding a cure for all diseases would make the lives of people more productive and tension free. There will be happiness, high levels of energy, and a sense of euphoria everywhere. This would be highly instrumental in improving the quality of the human population and contribute towards a better society. And as for the question of diminishing resources as a result of increasing population, factors like natural calamities and terrorist attacks are enough to keep a check on the growing numbers.

Although it would be practically impossible to have cure for all diseases as the prognosis of all diseases is changing everyday, but if there could be a cure for all the diseases then it will certainly be very beneficial for the mankind at large! Because:
1. This will free humans from the fear of falling sick and will improve the overall quality of life, happiness and efficiency.
2. It is seen that the death rate in the productive age group of 30-50 is relatively high. By having a cure for all diseases there will be more productive resources available to contribute to the growth storey!
Freedom from the fear of falling sick will replace despair and distress by happy faces around. Will it not be a beautiful place to be in...!!!

no, the amount of cured people would mean less deaths in the world, this would mean that as more people are born, overcrowding would force the world into starvation.

A cure for all diseases would be good for the people that have diseases as they would then live longer. But there is a problem, if no-one was dying then the world would over populate and there would be too many people meaning that there would be shortages of food and other supplies.

I think that the world would be over-populated if we cured all illness, then people would die due to lack of food and poverty because resources wouldn't be evenly shared. More death would come of permanent well-being than illness.

You can go to other countries to have it done. Although if you are unable to move, you cannot commit assisted suicide - as you have to administer the poison yourself.

I think i there was a cure for all diseases, not only the world's population would increase but what happens when a new disease breaks out? such as the swine flu, no one knew what to do, so what happens? i personaly think it would be good until that happens, though a lot of the world's resources will be used, maybe having to search harder, so going deeper into the earth and finding a new material that will allow us to travel another planet like ours.

No as if there were no diseases then the death rate of the whole planet would decrease. This will mean that the population will expand greatly, meaning that our unrenewable resources would run out even quicker and there would be a high possibility that the human race could be eradicated.

If there were no disease the death rate of the entire planet would decrese rapidly. The world would be over populated. Because of this, our non-renewable sources would run out even quicker, unless you develop a safe nuclear energy resource. Or we might discover it is possible to move to another planet.

Having a cure for all diseases wouldn't be beneficial becuase there would be less deaths causing an increase in population and therefore all the Earth's resources to be drained and there wouldn't be as much room on the land, after all the earth is only 1/3 land. Life would be longer but it would be much more cramped and difficult, unless we moved to different planets so there was more room for the poulation to spread and more acess to resources.

Having a cure for all diseases would and would not be beneficial.

Why would it:
All of the horrible diseases would be cured, so that you would be able to live with your family for longer.

Why would it not:
Curing all of the world's diseases would mean that many people would be alive for longer which would mean that the world would be extremely cramped and crowded. This would then mean that the world's resources would run out.

In my opinion, I think that it would not be beneficial because of the reasons mentioned above, but some of the most horrible would be great to cure. One solution for the problem (too crowded), would be that we could start to live on other planets.

I think we live in a planet that is all about maintaining a balance. In our current scenario, people are born, some of who die young, and some of who even see out their old age. If a cure for all diseases is made, then the balance of the population on this planet is set to be disturbed, and with the continuous depletion of resources, which will only be further strained by the increase in population a quarrel is set to break out not only between individuals, but also between larger entities like nations. Also i feel that humans will start valuing their lives a lot less than what they currently do,and with that thought process, would lead an unhealthy lifestyle.

'prevention is better than cure' i would say that rather than a cure to all diseases if preventive measures are worked upon it will be more beneficial. cure is good and important but it also will lead to a number of other problems to the world. If a cure to all diseases is made then the death rate of the world will be affected. A drastic decline in the death rate will lead to a lot of overpopulation in the world. However it will also save a lot of lives and reduce grief for the families who otherwise will lose their near and dear ones. i would like to say that it is very difficult to answer this question. in one way cure is very important but for critical thinkers it is a problem all together. the best way i can think of to answer this is that cure must be worked on but prevention is all the more important.

A cure for every disease in every way would be beneficial as in the world there are innumerable deaths every day almost 1/3RD of which are children most below the age of 5 YEARS and even parents dyeing of diseases when children are very young, making them an orphan.
Finding a cure for all diseases will increase the world population creating the lack of basic necessities’ like shelter, food, water, clothing. But necessity is the mother of invention so human beings will continue to find a solution of this problem as well
